The Schuman building of the European Parliament welcomed more than 600 people on the 13th October on the occasion of the Open Day of National and European Institutions in Luxembourg. The public had the opportunity to become acquainted with the different departments of the Directorate-General for Translation, among them the Terminology Coordination Unit which made available its printed publications to the interested visitors.
The Terminology Coordination Unit, created in 2008, is responsible for activities like feeding and maintaining IATE (the terminology database of the European Union), organizing training, seminars and workshops for translators and terminologists, providing relevant terminology and documentation tools and resources, as well as cooperating closely with the translation units and other services of the European Parliament, with other institutions and with external bodies active in the field of terminology.
