Terminology CoordInAction!

Innovation, creativity, vision and, above all, determination and team spirit, all this is Terminology Coordination!  

 

The TermCoord team’s role in the European Parliament is to assist Translators with their day-to-day tasks. As translating documents into 23 languages can be a large, time-consuming and sometimes challenging task, we at TermCoord try to lighten the workload:

 

• We coordinate IATE and different terminology projects;
• We carry out term extraction projects within the framework of Language Technology Watch;
• We look for new terminology before it needs to be translated. We find out what types of texts and topics are being discussed in the Parliament, and find glossaries and definitions for terms that are likely to be difficult to translate.
• We organise large academic seminars at the European Parliament on terminology-related issues. We cooperate with relevant services and management groups both within the Parliament and on an interinstitutional level. We also organize presentations of the work of our Unit for universities and other external bodies, both at the European Parliament and in other locations acrossEurope.
