A Term is Born: Neologisms in the Digital Age

The seminar of 8th November 2012 dealt with language changes in the 21st century. The two guest speakers were Kerry Maxwell (linguist and lexicographer) and Rita Temmerman (professor of translation and terminology). They answered questions like why does language change, how are new words created and which new words will survive? They shall also look at the role of the English language in today’s globally connected world, what factors influence the creation of new words and what cultural impact new words leave.
