The Great Translation Debate

Is the role of the translator on the verge of a drastic change? This is one of the questions those in the business of translation pose, as the fast rate of technological development is leading the translation industry towards automation and instant translation jobs on demand.

It’s easy to get confused and almost impossible to get the full picture as heated debates populate the net about the changing role of the translator, the revolution of machine translation, and lately the purpose of open standards and interoperability.

Two private entities, and TAUS, are organising the Great Translation Debate Virtual Event on 29 September to ask questions, discuss, agree and disagree in the spirit of gathering collective wisdom to answer some of our questions.
