The IATE term of the week: PSI

Every week TermCoord selects a new term from the European Terminology Databank “IATE”, which is related to relevant political and international issues occurring during the week.

Today we selected the specific term PSI (private sector involvement) because of the deadline for Greek debt swap, which is today 8 March 2012 at 8 p.m. GMT (follow the live on ‘The Guardian’ website).

Definition: contribution made by private creditors to resolving a sovereign financial crisis, for example by writing down debt, the aim being to help sovereign borrowers regain fiscal sustainability more rapidly than would otherwise have been the case.

In IATE there are 17 languages for this entry, only 6 official EU languages are still missing: Bulgarian, Danish, Lithuanian, Maltese, Hungarian and Slovak.
