Recommendations for literary translators by PETRA

The European Platform for Literary Translation (PETRA) presented on 22 October its new publication “Towards New Conditions for Literary Translation in Europe” in Passa Porta, Brussels.

These recommendations are the collected conclusions of the discussions held with the participation of almost 70 organisations active in the field of literary translation, during the first PETRA congress on 1-3 December 2011 in Brussels. This text is available online in three languages, English, French and German, and the summary is also available in Italian and Spanish.

As a platform, PETRA aims to help literary translation actors in Europe by presenting and promoting literary translation and by creating a European forum where they can exchange ideas and information. The recommendations deal with important aspects of literary translation such as copyright and e-rights management or the economic and social situation of literary translators.
