18 December World Arabic Language Day

World Arabic Language DayToday we celebrate the World Arabic Language Day, an initiative promoted by Morocco and Saudi Arabia and approved by the UNESCO Executive Board during its 190th session. This annual event has the purpose to boost multilingualism and to create bonds of union through the respect for cultural diversity and dialogue among civilizations.

It is also a day to remember the role of the Arabic language and its contribution to the human civilization. Arabic is a language spoken by more than 422 million people, especially in the Middle East and North Africa.
